Primitive! Raila rebuked the state for kidnappings.
Raila Odinga, candidate for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission, had condemned the ongoing kidnappings in the country and called on the government to stop these "primitive" acts.
Some Gen Z people had posted a rather macabre video showing that President Ruto had died. A song was uploaded to accompany it. The song makes fun of Ruto. Ruto doesn't like that at all!
The former prime minister's comments followed the separate kidnapping of three bloggers - Bill Mwangi, Peter Muteti and Bernard Kavuli, a fourth person who has not yet been identified, according to Ipoa.
Muteti was reportedly picked up by four men outside a kiosk in Uthiru at around 9am on Saturday and dragged into a waiting vehicle that sped away.
Witnesses said one of the men was wearing a police uniform.
Mwangi, in turn, was allegedly forcibly abducted from a hair salon in Embu by four masked armed men travelling in a double cab pickup truck.
Kavuli was reportedly abducted in Ngong town on Sunday, an incident linked to his activities on social media sites. Recent posts on his platform X have addressed issues related to the 2007 post-election violence.
Raila described such acts as unacceptable in today's times and said the country cannot afford to go back to the old dark days.
"We want a safe country. The days of being arrested and taken to Nyayo House are over. Today, you are taken to unknown places. This is primitive and unacceptable," he said.
"This must end... we do not want such primitive things to happen in our country."
"That is why I would like to urge the government to ensure that this matter ends this year. We want a safe country.”
A few days ago, the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) called for their release.
The Independent Police Oversight Authority (IOA) announced on Wednesday evening that it had launched an investigation to determine whether the police were actually involved in the kidnappings as alleged.
It is not so important whether it was the police, if it wasn't the police, then it was the secret service, in this case the only thing that matters is who gave the order and who that was, we can imagine that.
