Shedrack Omondi Okindo, known as Hon. Mosquito, a TikToker from Mombasa, was arrested on August 4, 2025, in Miritini District, Mombasa County by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The arrest was based on a viral TikTok video from August 1, 2025, which allegedly contained inflammatory and hate speech. In the video, Okindo demanded the release of Jackson Kimani (aka Cop Shakur) and Patrick Osoi, leaders of the anti-police group Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI), while threatening President William Ruto with violence if the demands were not met. The DCI declared the video a threat to public order, prompting swift action.   During the arrest, authorities seized items from Okindo's residence. Two pairs of tactical combat fatigues, a notebook containing texts on "guerrilla resistance tactics" and "justice for all freedom heroes," three mobile phones, and documents from the Justice Direction Party were found. Okindo was taken to Nairobi, registered at the Gigiri police station, and later brought before the Kahawa court for arraignment. According to recent developments from the prosecution, he could face charges of terrorism and incitement to violence. The police's actions are somewhat reminiscent of the case of Rose Njeri. She was also accused of terrorism and cybercrime. Nothing came of that. The court dismissed these charges. What "terrorist" items were found? If this is an accusation for a terrorist act, then every Kenyan is a terrorist. What's disturbing is that the police are complicit here.
