Orphanage officially opened the "Maison des Pupilles" (House of the Eyes) in Bamako

Mali opens orphanage for children of fallen soldiers, fulfilling Goita's 2021 promise. President Assimi Goita officially opened the "Maison des Pupilles" (House of the Eyes) in Bamako on Sunday, a home for children whose parents died serving the country. "Everything we do for our charges is the very least we can do – a matter of justice and social equality," he said at the ceremony. The facility fulfills Goita's 2021 pledge to allocate two-thirds of his national budget to social projects. The main objectives of the "Maison des Pupilles" project in Bamako can be summarized as follows: The home provides safe accommodation for children who have lost their parents or are vulnerable for other reasons. The project aims to offer the children not only shelter but also social support to facilitate their integration into society. In addition to basic necessities, the children will have access to education and other developmental opportunities to improve their future prospects. The home will also offer psychological and emotional support to help the children cope with their difficult life situations. The project aims to provide the children with a stable and nurturing environment that will help them return to society independently and responsibly. These goals reflect the commitment to comprehensively support vulnerable children in Mali and create a better future for them. Construction began in 2024, and the inauguration marks the most visible and symbolic realization of this promise. The president described the initiative as a moral obligation and a shared responsibility of all Malians.
