Activist Chuks Eric’s Whereabouts Unknown After Arrest

Human rights activist and social media commentator Chuks Eric (@ChuksEricE) was reportedly arrested and taken to Abuja. Chuks is linked to a viral TikTok video, created by another person, accusing the senator of attempting to kill his estranged wife, Regina Daniels. He was reportedly arrested on December 13, 2025, after being lured from his Lagos home under the pretext of a theft and taken to Abuja. The arrest was made following a petition from Senator Ned Nwoko. According to his family, investigators later determined that Chuks was neither responsible for the alleged theft nor had he written the social media post in question. The family further claimed that the arrest stemmed from a petition by a sitting senator, allegedly originating in Abuja. Although it turned out that Chuks hadn't created the viral content himself, officers reportedly released him that same evening but ordered him to accompany them to Abuja the following day. Activists and users are demanding his release and using hashtags like #FreeChuksEric. They criticize the police action as an abuse of power. The original TikToker (@liaroftiktok) looks different and has apologized online.
