Impeachment process against Gachagua

Impeachment proceedings have been initiated against Rigathi Gachagua. A group of Mount Kenya MPs accuse him of isolating the region from national politics and hindering other political ambitions. The allegations also include sabotage and disobedience to the government. Other serious allegations have been made and will be dealt with as part of the impeachment proceedings. The allegations include: Corruption and money laundering, involvement in violent protests. Gachagua has previously been involved in corruption scandals and has been accused of receiving KSh202 million (approximately USD1.7 million) from corrupt sources. He is accused of being involved in organising and financing violent protests that took place in June. These allegations have led to widespread political unrest and possible impeachment proceedings. However, President William Ruto intervened to stop the proceedings, given the political tensions in the country and the potential negative impact on the government's voter base. Now MPs are demanding security guarantees.   A minority leader in the National Assembly has called on the Speaker of Parliament to contact the recently appointed Inspector General of Police to ensure the safety of the 291 MPs who voted for the impeachment motion. The fiery MP claimed that some MPs had expressed reservations about supporting the motion as it involves the removal of the country's deputy military leader. The MP for Kibwezi West has officially tabled Gachagua's impeachment motion in Parliament, citing reasons strong enough to force him out of office. The Speaker read out the impeachment motion against the DP after confirming that 291 MPs had supported it, which exceeded the minimum number. For a motion to be tabled, the support of at least 117 MPs is required. According to the latest news, President William Ruto has called for people to be consulted. Some Kenyans have taken to social media to comment on this. They said Rutos and Gachagua came together, they must also leave together. And one MP said that impeachment proceedings must also be initiated against Ruto. The people elected to represent Wanjiku forget their Mandate....Politics and snitching is the call of the day... what value does this bring to poor Kenyan? . It remains exciting.  https://www.youtube.com/live/K0etRxXoyPQ?si=55jydmMptJTaoChd
