Ceasefire in the Democratic Republic of Congo

The warring parties in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the M23 rebels have agreed to an immediate ceasefire after a week of talks in Qatar. The agreement was announced in official statements by both sides. The Congo had previously classified the M23 group as a terrorist group. In March, talks were held with Félix Tshisekedi (DRC) and Paul Kafane (Rwanda), also hosted by Qatar. A joint call for a ceasefire was issued.
