Impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua, kenya
Things are not looking good for Rigathi Gachagua. Not long ago there were protests in Kenya, the so-called Generation Z protests in June 2024. Now five of his allies have been charged in this connection. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has recommended that the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions bring charges against the five politicians. If the Director of Public Prosecutions now decides to investigate further in this matter, things will get tight for the people concerned. The charges include inciting or inciting others to commit a crime, conspiracy to commit a crime and money laundering using proceeds of crime and anti-money laundering. “Efforts are being made to obtain all financial data from FRC, Safaricom and banks where financial transactions were carried out,” a detective said in the letter. This development comes amid growing calls from members of parliament to remove Gachagua, who is increasingly isolated within the government. The petition to remove Gachagua is reportedly underway.
"It is done," wrote one MP on his Facebook page, meaning preparations are complete, indicating growing challenges for Gachagua.
Despite growing isolation within the government, Gachagua remains defiant and vows to fight the impeachment attempts head-on.
Kenyans are not shy, saying on social media that if Gachagua has to fight, he should take the president with him.
