Cholera outbreak in Nigeria

Adamawa State has confirmed a cholera outbreak with 12 deaths. Adamawa State is located in northeast Nigeria, bordering Borno, Gombe and Taraba states and has an eastern border with Cameroon. 308 cases have been treated, of which 244 persons have been treated and discharged. Felix Tangwami, Commissioner for Health and Social Services, confirmed the outbreak. 30 samples sent to the National Referral Laboratory (NRL) tested positive for cholera. “In light of these results, I want to confirm to the public that there is a cholera outbreak in Adamawa State and people should be cautious in their movements, interactions, personal hygiene and the source of water they drink.”
